Newman and Robert Redford and…..Nd:YAG and Alexandrite; these two lasers have always created
a dilemma of choice in laser applications, but just because of this reason they are incredibly
complementary.
Both have their own advantages and disadvantages. Which one shall be chosen?
Alexandrite is aggressive yet incredibly fast and efficient however the range of phototype applications
is limited. Nd:YAG is slow, impossible to use on larger areas but highly versatile, precise and it’s
the only laser that can treat dark phototypes.
This combination allows us to customize the applications in accordance to the patient’s needs and
the season – on less or bronzed tan - to obtain the results in short term; to avoid undesired side
effects as much as possible; to avoid seasonal pauses; to extend the applications to vascular and
pigmented lesions, small scale surgical applications and photo-rejuvenation.
Needless to say that by mixing the two laser sources it’s possible to use them both together and
EV made it real for you! Think of a machine which is capable of mixing two sources in the same
fiber and giving the possibility of deciding the percentage of each laser source to be used. For
example in case of phototype IV, %60 YAG and %40 Alexandrite can be used during the treatment;
this is the secret of this state of the art machine.
